About this product

Traditional Cotton-Weave Jerseys

The traditional jersey is a heavyweight cotton-rich weave with a stiff twill collar and rubber buttons, and it exists because that is what the game wore before performance knits. Clubs still order it for heritage fixtures, alumni sides and club shops, and it outsells the modern shirt in the shop more often than people expect.

It is heavier when wet and it is warmer, which is a genuine trade-off and one we will state plainly rather than let you discover in April. For a heritage fixture or a supporter garment it is the right shirt. For a fast summer sevens tournament it is not.

Rubber buttons are not a styling flourish. Hard buttons are a hazard in contact, which is why the traditional shirt has always used soft ones.

FAQ

Traditional Cotton-Weave Jerseys: quick answers

What is the minimum order for traditional jerseys?
Minimum order is just 12 — with bulk pricing tiers as quantities grow.
How fast will my order arrive?
Your free mockup lands within 24 hours and the finished order ships in about 2 weeks — express turnaround is available for tight dates.
Is a cotton jersey worse for playing in?
In hot weather, yes — it holds water and gets heavy. We would rather tell you that than sell it for a summer sevens. For heritage fixtures, winter club rugby and the shop, it is the better shirt.
Why rubber buttons?
Because a hard button is a hazard in contact. It is one of the few details of the traditional jersey that is a safety decision rather than a stylistic one, and it has never changed.
